A Limited Edition Lamborghini Aventador is launched to celebrate the Miura. The stunning Miura was revealed in 1966 in Geneva, creating a sensation and became one of the most famous and iconic sports cars.
Thanks to its gorgeous looks and powerful engine, the Miura is often called the first supercar. Now, exactly 50 years later, on the golden anniversary, Lamborghini has released an homage to the Miura in the form of a limited edition Lamborghini Aventador.
The Lamborghini Aventador Miura 50 limited edition is available in several color combinations, including this red and gold version.
The most sought-after Miura models are the red and gold Miura SV’s, built from 1971 to 1973. Only 150 of the faster and more powerful SV were built, making this now an extremely expensive collector’s item. Auction prices for the Miura SV have gone over $2 million recently.
As a fitting tribute to the iconic Miura’s 50th anniversary, Lamborghini’s Ad Personam department created the Aventador Miura Homage, which reflect the colors and specifications of original Miura models. The upper body in one color is complemented by the lower body and sill in a contrasting tone.
The most iconic color combination of the Miura is the red upper body with the gold lower body and gold wheels. You can order the Aventador in this exact color scheme (Rosso Arancio Miura, or 5 other colors) and finish it off with a set of 20-inch/21-inch Dione rims in gold (or matt silver).
The side of the car will be emblazoned with metallic Miura badging, while the Lamborghini logo (in black) and limited-edition plating refines the rear and interior.
The cabin can be dressed in either Nero Ade or Terra Emilia leather accented with tone-on-tone stitching. Further embellishments include the Miura 50th logo (in gold or silver) on the seats and “Lamborghini” spelled out along the leather dashboard.
The special edition has the 700 hp 6.5-liter V-12 engine, which gives it the ability to blast from 0 to 62 mph (0-100 kmh) in 2.9 seconds, and a top speed of 217 mph (350kmh). Just to compare, the strongest Miura SV generated up to 380 hp and topped out at 171 mph (275 kmh).
The Aventador Miura Homage debuted at the United Kingdom’s Goodwood Festival of Speed (from June 23 to 26, 2016) and will later be showcased at special events planned for the Lamborghini Miura’s 50th anniversary.
Only 50 examples of the Aventador Miura 50 will be made, and by now, most of those have sold out. A price was not mentioned, but as the saying goes: if you have to ask, you can’t afford it.
Get the red and golden raging bull a size smaller: Kyosho made a detailed 1:18 scale die cast model of the Lamborghini Miura SV, not produced anymore but widely available on eBay.
There is also a very rare 1:12 scale model of the red and gold Miura SV. Only 750 of these were made, and there’s one on eBay now for $769 or best offer.
